Currie Headed To Chicago

Jabari Currie knew where he wanted to go. After just a single official visit he committed to play in Conference USA.

The DePaul Blue Demons are on the board with their first commitment from the Class of 2005. Jabari Currie visited last weekend and during his official campus visit committed to Dave Leitao's bunch.

"It feels real good," Currie said. "Now I get to concentrate on the season and help my grades."

In addition to DePaul, Currie looked at Ohio State and Purdue. Maryland began showing some initial interest as well.

Last summer, Currie ran with the Michigan Hurricanes and participated in the Reebok ABCD Camp. A strong driver with a college-ready body, Currie was the Blue Demons top target from the point guard spot this season.

Currie, a self-admitted laid back kind of prospect, was drawn to Leitao because of the same qualities.

"I knew from the start. When I went down on an unofficial I felt real comfortable with the head coach and assistants.

"He's just like me. He's laid back and I was real comfortable around him."

"I think Jabari Currie can be as good as any point guard in the country at DePaul because Dave Leitao is going to give him the freedom to do what he needs to do offensively," Will Smith a coach for the Michigan Hurricanes said.

DePaul has two more scholarships remaining. Of course the top target is local product Julian Wright. Rashad Woods is visiting campus this weekend.
