Aztecs Land A Pair

San Diego State gets a big infusion of talent, with two top West Coast prospects committing to the Aztecs...

Brett Hoerner, 6-10 SR C Fullerton (Calif.) High, committed to San Diego State Tuesday night, according to his father.

We spoke with Mr. Hoerner Tuesday evening, when he informed us of his son's decision.

"We think San Diego State is a good fit for Brett," said Mr. Hoerner. "We really like all of the staff there, particularly Coach Fisher.

Washington and UCLA were among several other programs that expressed interest in Hoerner. The Aztecs received more good news with the commitment of Kashif Watson, 6-3 SR SG Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman. Watson committed after his official visit to the school this past weekend, according to a source close to the recruitment.

Watson, the #5 ranked shooting guard in the west for 2005, is an exceptional athlete with a very high upside. His outside shot showed improvement this past summer. With a more consistent shot, Watson has a chance to be as good as any two-guard in the west this year. He could also end up spending some time at point guard in the future.
