Dante Cunningham Mulling Options

Dante Cunningham had always wanted one specific offer. He got it - but he's still going to take things slow and explore his options.

Dante Cunningham has always yearned for that elusive scholarship offer from Maryland. He finally got it.

However, the 6-7, 215-pound senior forward out of St. John's (D.C.) won't make a hasty decision and commit to the Terps.

Cunningham, who averaged a modest 10 points and 7.5 boards last season, has a visit set up to visit Maryland on Sept. 25 and then he'll take another one to Pittsburgh the following weekend. Those are the only two set in stone, but he's also considering trips to Charlotte, St. John's, George Washington and Villanova.

``There is no leader right now," said Cunningham, the DC Assault star who fielded his offer from the Terps after coming back from Los Angeles at the end of July. "I was happy and proud to get the offer from Maryland, but I had no intention of committing right away."

``It's been a lot more hectic lately with so many people calling," he added.

Cunningham, who at one time prior to the summer said that Georgetown led, has eliminated the Hoyas.

``The most important thing to me if how I fit in after my freshman year," Cunningham said. "When I'll be in the lineup and how I get along with the coaches."
