Justin Dentmon Headed West

Justin Dentmon signed with Illinois State a year ago, but re-opened his recruitment after deciding to go the prep school route. Now he's made another decision.

Nate Robinson will likely leave for the pros after this season and it's also likely that Justin Dentmon will take over running the Washington Huskies.

Dentmon, a former Illinois State signee who opted to take a year in the prep ranks at Winchendon (Mass.), committed to Lorenzo Romar's program on Friday afternoon after taking a recent official visit to the campus.

``He liked their style of play," Illinois Warriors coach Larry Butler said. "The way Lorenzo Romar gives his guards the independence to grow. He doesn't put chains on his guys and lets them do their thing."

``He also liked the city, the league and the way Romar handled himself," added Butler. "It's a perfect fit for Justin."

The 6-foot Dentmon played at Carbondale High (Ill.) and also considered Miami and Illinois.

``Washington gets a lead guard who is unconscious in terms of putting the basketball in the hole," Butler said. "He's a big-time scorer who can get to the rim and finish. He's a clutch player."
