Garcia Headed To Big East

John Garcia was going to play in the Big East. On Tuesday, he ended his recruitment and picked a school.

John Garcia, the 6-foot-9 No. 57-rated player in America, ended his recruitment Tuesday afternoon by committing to Louis Orr's Seton Hall Pirates.

"In the end it had to do with the people," Garcia said. "You have to relate to the coaches and find out who they are.

Garcia had trimmed his list to the Pirates, St. John's, Villanova, Connecticut and Pittsburgh. Though he didn't take any official visits, Garcia was diligent with his unofficial trips. He had more than enough information to reach a decision and did.

The Brentwood (N.Y.) High product averaged 17 points a game last season. Over the next four years at Seton Hall, Garcia has a few goals for himself.

"I want to win. I definitely want to go to Seton Hall and be a part of a winning team, make the NCAA's and hopefully win a national championship. Hopefully, in the four years that I'm there we can contend."

Louis Orr did a nice job making a very good impression on Garcia throughout his recruitment. "That's the guy that I can really relate to. From the first time that I met him to yesterday on the in-home visit, he feels like a genuine person. I really could just vibe with him from the first time I met him."
