Byron Eaton Will Play in Big 12

Byron Eaton improved his stock as much as almost anyone this past summer - and the Texas point guard pulled the trigger this past weekend.

Byron Eaton has known he wanted to go to Oklahoma State for a while, but all he needed was his mother's blessing.

The stocky 5-11, 200-pound senior point guard from Dallas Lincoln (Texas) got it and made a commitment to Eddie Sutton and the Cowboys during a visit to Stillwater this weekend.

``I was going to do it, but I just didn't know when," Eaton said. "I just wanted to make sure my mom and dad liked it."

Eaton said it was more a decision that had to do with immediate dividends rather than the other Texans who had already given Sutton & Co. verbal commitments.

Gerald Green, Roderick Flemings and Terrel Harris – all of the Lone Star State – will join Eaton in the Class of 2005. ``They said I can come right in and play," Eaton added. "I didn't want to go anywhere and sit."

Eaton said he also heavily considered Cincinnati, but didn't wait until his scheduled visit to the Bearcats, which was scheduled for next weekend.
