Mamadi Diane Headed to ACC

Mamadi Diane only needed one visit to get the process over with. The DeMatha senior shooter is headed to the ACC.

Mamadi Diane got a chance to get to know the Virginia coaches on his unofficial visit, but it was the players who sealed the deal on his official visit this past weekend.

``I decided that Virginia is the place for me," said the 6-5, 180-pound DeMatha senior shooting guard. "I spent the day with T.J. Bannister and he was very honest with me about the good things and bad things about Virginia."

``I just think there's no better place for me," he added.

Diane, who has a nice mid-range game and played with D.C. Assault this past summer, had only set up the lone official visit to Virginia, but he was contemplating whether to take official trips to Georgetown and Miami.

``I really liked how much their players got along with each other," Diane said. "It's really a true family atmosphere."

Diane, who has already surpassed a 1,000 on the SAT, also mentioned the academics as a key factor in his decision.
