Johnson Has East Coast Appeal

Marcus Johnson, the 6-foot-5 swingman out of Los Angeles Westchester is off the board. Shortly after his official visit, Johnson ended his recruitment.

The University of Connecticut, after accepting a verbal commitment from wing Marcus Johnson, has one more scholarship to award this year. Johnson, the No. 75 prospect in America, selected the Huskies Sunday night, according to sources.

Johnson, who had been interested in Syracuse, Arizona and Louisville, was on his official visit to Storrs over the weekend and upon returning home from his trip, picked up the phone and called in his commitment to the Huskies.

UConn had been recruiting Marcus Williams out of Seattle and Danny Green from New York, but the Johnson verbal effectively ends their pursuit of those players.

Look for the Huskies to chase No. 13 prospect Andrew Bynum, a center out of New Jersey, with everything they have.

Meanwhile, Johnson brings all kinds of athleticism to the table. He hails from one of the most decorated high school programs on the West Coast and specializes in game-changing athletic plays.
