Well, Andrew Bynum, the 7-foot center out of St. Joseph's in New Jersey has at least an idea of who leads prior to the beginning of his visits. We asked him who the leader was and he obliged.
Bynum, ranked as the No. 1 center and No. 14 prospect overall in the class, had a monster summer. As he gained confidence he gained admirers and soon enough by the middle of the month he had offers from the heaviest of hitters.
Jim Calhoun fell in love with him during the Nike Camp. During that camp, the Huskies made him their No. 1 recruiting priority and it they've certainly made an impression on him thus far.
"I just really like Calhoun and they won a national championship and they showed me all the stats on how many games they win a season. The team that I'll be on going into my year would have a chance to win the national championship my first year."
Bynum was quick to point out that it's no done deal for the Huskies. Rather they are just No. 1 in his mind going into the visits. The other three schools linger in the mix.
"Georgia and UNC are tied. I like Georgia a lot because of Coach Felton. Plus they have Louis and Mike Mercer and Rashad Singleton. I like them a lot."
Bynum knows he's going to get time as a freshman; it's just a matter of how much. UNC's Roy Williams will be in his home Thursday, Sept. 23 to make the Heels presentation.
