Wright said, "I just thought it was the best for me in the long term. It's UCLA. And to go into a program with great athletics and academics, and in a great conference, and have a chance to have a big impact early, that's important to me."
Wright also cited the players and coaches as big factors in his decision.
"I also chose UCLA because of the players there. I felt really comfotable around the guys. And with Coach (Ben) Howland, I'm very comfortable playing for him. I believe in him as a coach. I believe he's going to make me better, and make the program better and we'll have a lot of success there."
When did Wright reach his decision? "I actually came to the conclusion during my official visit to Stanford. I really wanted to see Stanford, and when I was there I was going over everything in my mind. They were all three great choices, but I wanted to go back home after my Stanford trip and go over everything for sure and think about it for a week."
Wright said his parents were behind him. "They were happy with my decision. They gave me their input, but the final say was mind. I made the decision by myself."
