2006 Focus: Tre'Von Willis

Tre'Von Willis tells us that he's getting early interest from schools in the Pac-10, WAC and SEC, among other conferences...

Tre'Von Willis, a 6-3 junior shooting guard from Fresno (Calif.) Washington Union, is among the more prolific scorers in the West Coast class of 2006. Willis had multiple games of scoring 40+ points in last year's CIF playoffs and he figures to be among the elite two-guard prospects in the west next year.

We spoke with Willis last night and asked about the schools that interest him.

"I like Wake Forest, Kansas, Flordida, Fresno State, UConn, North Carolina, Oregon, UCLA, USC...those are some of them," said Willis.

Willis said a few programs have sent coaches out to his high school. "The coaches that came to my school were from USC, UCLA and Fresno State," said Willis.

We asked if he had a favorite program growing up and Willis replied, "I was kind of a Tar Heel fan when I was a kid."

Willis has yet to take any unofficial visits and we asked him if he's talked with any coaches about taking official visits.

"I've talked with the coaches at UCLA and USC about taking visits, but we haven't set anything up yet," said Willis.

Willis said location won't play a major role in his decision. "I'll go anywhere -- wherever the best fit is for me," said Willis.

We asked Willis for his impression as to which programs are recruiting him the hardest and Willis replied, "USC, UCLA and Fresno State, I think."

Willis told us that he has a 3.0 GPA.
