2006 Focus: Kyle Coston

Kyle Coston, a 2006 forward from the state of Washington, has drawn early interest from a number of programs...

Kyle Coston, 6-6 JR SF/PF Lynden (Wash.) Lynden Christian, is a relatively unknown prospect nationally, but he's drawing plenty of interest in the west. A solid athlete with a nice-looking shot, Coston played on a low-profile club team and didn't get seen much outside of the West Coast last summer.

We spoke with Coston yesterday and asked about the programs he's heard from to date.

"Gonzaga, Washington, Northern Arizona, Arizona State, Oregon State, Oregon, Washington State, Montana, Eastern Washington, Portland and Loyola Marymount are some of them," said Coston.

We asked Coston which programs had been in to see him at his high school this fall and he replied, "Pretty much all of the ones I mentioned."

Asked if he has any early favorites, Coston said, "I really like Washington, Oregon, Oregon State -- the Pac-10 schools -- and Gonzaga."

Coston said he would like to play relatively close to home if possible. We asked what other factors he would be looking at when making his choice and he said, "The atmosphere at the program, the coaching staff, how they run practice and just someplace where I get that feeling of it feeling right."

Look for Coston to make a decision prior to his senior year. "I'd like to get it done after next summer," Coston said.

Coston told us that he has a 3.0 GPA.
