Penn State Adds Junior Guard

Penn State joined the growing legion of programs with commitments from the Class of 2003. In the very near future, an in-state point guard will publicly announce his intentions to play for the Nittany Lions.

Luber To Play At PSU

Newton (PA) Council Rock point guard Ben Luber, a 5-10, 160 pounder who is averaging 23 points a game this year, will soon announce for Penn State.

"I really haven't made it public yet, but year, I'm going to Penn State," Luber said. According to Luber, Charlotte and St. Joseph's also were interested and offered early. Luber has one brother who plays at Northeastern and another at Florida International, so college buckets simply runs in the family.

At last year's Prime Time Shootout, on a somewhat national stage, Luber distinguished himself with a crafty handle and slick moves. Though he was young, he seemed very poised and Penn State loved him.

"I thought it was the best opportunity for me and I felt that there wasn't another school academically or socially for me," Luber said. "Athletically, I felt they played in one of the best conferences in college basketball and to have a chance to play as a freshman, I couldn't turn it down."
