Ibekwe Still Weighing Options

Onye Ibekwe from Los Angeles Crenshaw is an uncommitted frontcourt player who is on track to qualify -- a rare commodity...

Onye Ibekwe, 6-6 SR PF, Los Angeles (Calif.) Crenshaw, has a GPA in the mid-3 range. He's taken the SAT once without studying and didn't achieve a qualifying score, but is studying to re-take this Saturday.

In other words, Ibekwe has a very good chance to qualify academically, which makes him a very rare commodity among high school unsigned seniors.

Ibekwe said he's hearing from Pepperdine, Boston College, SMU, USF, San Jose State and Long Beach State mostly.  He's taken an official visit to Pepperdine, which he said is his favorite at this point.

Onye also said talked a bit about his heralded younger brother, Ekene Ibekwe, 6-9 JR PF, Los Angeles (Calif.) Carson. When asked which schools he thought Ekene favored, Onye said, "North Carolina and USC."
