Theo White to Pac-10

Theo White grew up in Oakland and the Tyler Junior College standout won't play his college ball all that far from home.

Theo White, a 6-6 1/2, 235-pound sophomore at Tyler Junior College (Texas), committed to USC.

``It's a big-time program in the Pac-10," Tyler JC coach Mike Marquis said. "They have a name coach and it's closer to home."

White played his high school ball at Oakland Tech (Calif.) and averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds last season in his first season at Tyler.

He also considered San Diego, San Diego State, Charlotte and Baylor.

``He's a warrior," Marquis said. "Oh boy. Their might be guys with more talent, but there aren't many guys who are more productive."

``He's added a faceup game which he didn't have before," added Marquis. "He really plays with a ton of energy and intensity and can finish with either hand. He's a man."

Marquis also said that White will likely play his natural position at power forward this season rather than being forced to play center - as he did last year out of necessity.
