2006 Focus: Taylor Harrison

Taylor Harrison, a bruising, aggressive center from Southern California, has multiple high major programs showing him early interest...

Taylor Harrison, 6-8 JR C San Clemente (Calif.) High, is an extremely physical big man with a great motor. Harrison's skill level has a ways to go before he's ready for college, but he's got a unique approach to the game. You don't see many kids who will bang, and compete, the way Harrison does. With further development, we believe he'll be a solid prospect at the high major level.

We spoke with Harrison recently and asked him about the schools he's heard from to date.

"Most of the Pac-10," said Harrison. "I haven't heard from Arizona, Arizona State, Washington State and USC, but the other schools have all been in contact. Also, Notre Dame and Arkansas have shown interest."

We asked Harrison which schools seem to be recruiting him the hardest at this point and he replied, "Oregon and Cal seem very serious. Cal has offered. And UCLA seems pretty serious also."

When asked if there is any school he knows he'd like to visit, Harrison replied, "I'd like to visit Washington -- I've never been there. I've been to Stanford, Cal and UCLA on unofficial visits. I also went to Notre Dame when I was back there with my travel team."

Harrison went on to say, "It's going to be a hard decision. I really like Cal, but I want to see where I fit best."

When questioned about the timing of his decision, Harrison said, "I think I'll have it closed up before next summer. I don't have any preference in terms of location."
