On Thursday, Baylor University announced its fifth basketball signee. The Bears, declared to have the No. 22 class in the nation by, have added Finland native Jari Vanttaja. The 6-foot-10, 215 pound forward is already signed.

"Our coaching staff feels Jari Vanttaja is a perfect fit at Baylor University and will be very successful on the court and in the classroom," Bears coach Scott Drew said.

"Jari is a very skilled player for his size and we agree with the Finnish coaches reminds us of a Hanno Mottola, Dirk Nowitski type of basketball player."

One prominent overseas scouting service – Court Vision – referred to Vanttaja as a "smooth, agile big man prospect … can score from inside and outside … also to face the basket."

During the 2004 Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany, Vanttaja averaged 14 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
