Illinois, UConn, Louisville Involved
Chicago Dunbar center Aaron Spears had been ticketed for Ohio State. Once that fell through and he opted not to sign, he focused on closing his high school campaign with a bang and that's just what he's done.
Spears has trimmed over 30 pounds off his frame and is down to 230 and it's made a difference. "I can jump a lot higher now," Spears chuckled. He said he lost the weight by running a lot in practice and was motivated by the fact he wanted to prove a lot of people wrong.
For his toils, Spears is now averaging 28 points and 13 rebounds for Dunbar. He made one official visit in the fall but will make more as the season progresses.
He says that Illinois, Louisville and UConn have made trips to watch him play and he's presently looking into his options with each program.
"I just want to be the best, that's all."
