Dual-Sport Star Picks Sooners
Hopefully, one day the country will get to root for Kevin Bookout. That'll happen should he achieve his Olympic dream as a shot putter or thrower. Next year, those who aren't Oklahoma State Cowboy fans will get to cheer for him as a Sooner.
"He's decided he's going to go to OU," Bookout's father said. "I think there's a lot that came into it, but I don't know it was always OU. He likes [Kelvin] Sampson and the things they've done in track. They've got a good nucleus coming back."
Kevin isn't the first Bookout to play for the Sooners. His brother is the all-time home run leader at OU and another sibling is a thrower at Oklahoma right now. In order to land Bookout, the Sooners needed to find a match on the hardwood and make sure they had a good throw coach in track and field. "The new [throw coach] they've got is a real great guy," Bookout's dad said. "He's a really good throw coach and he's well known in the state."
