Brooks Changes His Mind

Sometimes, kids change their minds. That appears to be the case with Indian Hills JC point guard Brandon Brooks. It looks like he's backed off his commitment to Southern Cal.

Iowa State Claims Brooks

Southern Cal received a commitment from Indian Hills JC point guard Brandon Brooks last fall. However, he didn't sign scholarship papers. Now, he's set to ink with a new program.

According to Indian Hills assistant Chad Boudreau, he's headed to Iowa State. "Verbally, he has said something," Boudreau said. He did verbally commit to USC too. Will he sign? I guess. He committed to them. He said he was going to (sign with Iowa State)."

Very interesting.

Somehow, this one sounds as if the tug-of-war might not be finished but for now, Iowa State has pulled the flag to their side.

Brooks, who played high school ball at Portland (OR) Jefferson, is sitting out this season at Indian Hills. He tore his ACL last year and there wasn't a rush to use up another season of eligibility. Last season, he went for 16 points and 9 assists a night.

"Boy, he's playing well so I wish he could play. He's a good player."
