Koundjia Takes Campus Visit

Regis Koundjia, a 6-foot-8 sophomore transfer from LSU, is making an official visit this week. Is the former Laurinburg star close to a decision?

Regis Koundjia, a sophomore wing who played a season and a half at LSU before announcing a transfer this winter, is visiting Wake Forest Jan. 5.

"He's at Wake right now," Chris Chaney, Koundjia's former high school coach said.

The Demon Deacons have the edge in the recruitment of the native of Central Africa. "Wake recruited him pretty hard out of high school," Chaney said. "They really wanted him and saw him a lot. When they found out he was leaving they jumped on it real quick. I think they know what type of player he is because they've seen him at his best."

Koundjia has to make a fairly quick decision given that classes are beginning soon at schools on his list. He's looking at Wake, Georgetown, George Washington, Baylor and Oklahoma State. Last week he went to a Hoyas game and might see GW in the near future. The Cowboys would like to get him on campus as soon as possible but time is running out and the Wake Forest visit could yield a commitment.

"I talked to him this morning," Chaney said. "Wake Forest starts classes pretty soon so he's got to make it soon."
