Sapp Picks Big East School

Jessie Sapp, one of the top unsigned guards on the East Coast, picked a college Thursday night. Sapp will play collegiate basketball in the Big East.

The Georgetown Hoyas have another prospect in the fold. On Thursday night, guard Jessie Sapp picked the Hoyas after listening to pitches from Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, St. John's and most recently UConn.

"He's really kind of a like a Ben Gordon type where he's not really a point but he's an undersized two guard that can score," National Christian coach Trevor Brown said.

Sapp is having a really fine season, according to Brown. He's right at 26 points a contest and 6 boards. The strength of his game is his slashing ability and toughness. The kid loves to win.

The Hoyas knocked off Pittsburgh Wednesday night and following the game Sapp ended his recruitment.

"All of this just kind of took place at one time," Brown said. "I showed him where Georgetown is one of the Top 25 academic schools and then they beat Pittsburgh so he thought he might as well go for one with the best academic places; he's going to be there four years so that's important."
