Williams Receiving High-Major Attention

Originally, the plan was for Chris Williams to head off to prep school next season. However, now that interest has picked up in the Oxon Hill swingman, he'll sign in the spring.

Plenty of Suitors

Chris Williams, a small forward, used a strong showing at The Slam Dunk To The Beach to raise his recruitment to another level. Now, instead of heading off to prep school – he's already qualified – he'll sign in the spring, according to Oxon Hill assistant Lamar Barrett.

"He's averaging about 17 a game and the other night he had 19," Barrett said. "He's averaging about 21 in his last five games."

Notre Dame recently went down to check him out, sending assistant coach Sean Kearney. "They also came to see Rashad (Nixon)," Barrett said. Nixon is Oxon Hill's junior swingman.

"If the right school comes, he's going to sign in the spring," Barrett said. "He's going to take his visits. He's going to sign. He's not going to prep."

Right now, Boston College, Notre Dame, UMass, Wake Forest, Drake, Wichita State, Niagara and Rutgers are recruiting the solid 230-pounder; Wake is presently out of grants. Texas has called. Vanderbilt is interested.
