2006 Focus: Grant Parker

Schools from California and Indiana are among the early favorites for junior forward Grant Parker...

Grant Parker, 6-6 JR SF Englewood (Col.) Cherry Creek, is a skilled forward with very nice instincts for the game. Parker has good size and the ability to play both inside and on the perimeter.

We spoke with Parker last night and asked him about the schools he's been hearing from so far.

"Pepperdine, Stanford, San Diego – I'm really interested in the California schools," said Parker. "Also several schools from Indiana – I'm from there. Valparaiso, Butler, Colorado State, Minnesota, Princeton and Dartmouth."

We asked Parker if he has any favorites and he replied, "Right now, I want to go someplace like Stanford or Pepperdine, or one of the Indiana schools. I really like California, but I also grew up five minutes from Valparaiso. I like the spirit they have there in Indiana for basketball."

We asked Parker about the factors that will influence his choice. "The coaching staff they have, the relationship with the players and academically what they have to offer," said Parker. "I'd like to play early, but I'm willing to sacrifice and wait."

Parker said he'd like to sign in the fall. "I'd like to have some peace going in the basketball season next year."

Parker told us he has a 3.6 GPA.
