Aldrich Speaks On KU Trip

The Kansas Jayhawks had a chance to host one of the elite underclassmen last weekend. Here's how the unofficial visit of Cole Aldrich to Lawrence went.

He had been there before and was even a little under the weather this time around, but Bloomington (Minn.) Jefferson standout Cole Aldrich wasn't about to miss a premier weekend at Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

"I was feeling not too bad and I didn't want to miss it because it was going to be a huge game," Aldrich said. So, the 6-foot-10 No. 10 rated sophomore made the trip and by his account, it was a good one.

"I just like the whole atmosphere down there," Aldrich said. "It's really cool. The guys on the team are nice and get along with them all and they run the same offense."

The trip to Lawrence was not Aldrich's maiden voyage. He's been there before and his willingness to go back again was an indication of where Kansas stands. He's acknowledged that they are his leader. Could a commit be next?

"It's a possibility," Aldrich said. "I'm just still thinking of everything right now. I'm keeping my options open a little."

Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas and Arizona have offered. The Gophers are the team that KU fans need to concern themselves with. Aldrich has ties to the program and friends on the team. "I like Minnesota too. [Committing to KU] would be kind of hard because everyone says I should go to Minnesota. I've got a lot of friends there. Spencer Tollackson is a good buddy of mine.

For now, Aldrich waits. If he does something in the next two weeks, Kansas would appear to be in good shape. He's thinking about the decision, hasn't reached it yet but did enjoy himself last weekend.

"It was a blast, it was definitely fun," he said.
