2003 Spotlight: Taurean Minor

The Class of 2003 isn't particularly loaded with big-time point guards. However, Taurean Minor out of Houston is one of the good ones. Here's an update on his season and how things are progressing.

Minor Putting Up Big Numbers

Houston (TX) B.T. Washington 5-11 point guard Taurean Minor says his high school season is going well. "We're in good shape. We're 15-7 and 7-1 in districts. It's not supposed to be like that but it's alright."

Alright? 26 points and 6 assists a night are a little better than all right? Right?

Minor distinguished himself at last summer's Nike All-American Camp and plans on a return visit to the Indianapolis-based camp this summer. He'll play with HAAY Select and also a few events with a Texas-based adidas team.

"I'm just going to show my talents," Minor said. "People underestimate me. I'm going to show them."

Minor says that he's receiving heavy attention from Oklahoma, Florida and Florida State. He also likes UNLV, Cincinnati and Duke, though the Blue Devils probably won't be recruiting another point guard next season.

Minor took an unofficial visit to Texas and was slated to take another to an SEC school but that's up in the air. "I'm supposed to take one next week but it's my birthday. I was supposed to go to LSU."

Minor, goes by "Tack" but he's not sure why or even exactly how he received the nickname. "I don't know. My sister couldn't say my name so she said "Tack." I don't how she said it but she did it."
