2006 Focus: Calvin Haynes

Calvin Haynes, an athletic lefty two-guard from Southern California, is hearing from some Pac-10 programs...

We spoke with the father of Calvin Haynes, 6-2 JR SG Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft, last night about his son's recruitment.

While Mr. Haynes said his son doesn't really have a list at this point, he did say that several Pac-10 programs have expressed interest.

"Oregon, Washington, USC, Oregon State...they've all been in contact," said Mr. Haynes.

We asked about the factors Calvin will consider when choosing a school.

"The style of play -- playing uptempo -- that's a big key," said Mr. Haynes. "Location isn't really an issue. He'd like to play, but it's really about the style of play."

Mr. Haynes said he doesn't see his son making a decision until after the summer.

"He won't take any trips until after the summer," said Mr. Haynes.

We asked if any schools will definitely get a visit and Mr. Haynes replied, "He likes Washington -- he'll probably visit there."

Mr. Haynes said his son's GPA is around 3.0.
