Guard Headed To The SEC

Billy Humphrey is off the board. On Friday afternoon one of the highest scoring available seniors made his college choice.

The Georgia Bulldogs landed themselves a young man who can find the bottom of the basket. Billy Humphrey, a 6-foot-2 guard out of Dacula (Ga.) High, committed to Dennis Felton. "I really never felt more comfortable about a decision," Humphrey said. "Georgia was one of the teams that really wanted me. They didn't have a scholarship at first and they tried so hard to get me and then they got one."

Humphrey did not know where the scholarship that was offered to him came from, but the common school of thought is that the Dawgs will likely lose Louis Williams ('s No. 1 prospect) to the NBA draft.

"The main thing was, well, some others offered but I was done waiting. With Lou more than likely going to the league the only guard they recruited was Mike Mercer and I like playing with him. It'll be just like AAU again."

Humphrey, who averages better than 30 points a game, said staying home wasn't the biggest factor but it helps. "It's pretty important. My mother is more excited than me. Everyone can come watch me and I'm right up the street."
