Willingham Says He's Open

A few weeks ago, Tennessee looked as if it had secured its second commitment from the Class of 2003. However, now DeSoto High junior Dez Willingham says hold on, he's not committed to Tennessee.

Willingham Opens It Up

DeSoto (TX) High junior guard Dez Willingham is no longer committed to Tennessee. "It was a little early for me to make a decision," Willingham said. "(Tennessee's) still interested. I talk to them.

"Everything is fine, but I think I am going to withdraw (the commitment)."

Willingham, who averages 19 points and 8 assists, says Mississippi State, Stanford, Connecticut and maybe Texas are some schools he's now looking at. In fact, he's set to visit Mississippi State unofficially the weekend of Feb. 9.

Willingham will play with Wes Grandstaff's Team Texas program this summer but for now, he has his sights on finishing the high school season strong. "We're 7-4 in the districts and if we win the (Thursday) we'll got the playoffs."
