The Rebels hope that Johnson's development, which was evident this past season, can continue. According to Hargrave coach Kevin Keatts, the improvements were noticeable.
"Coming in the door he was a little mechanical but he's loosened up a little and he's expanded his game," Keatts said. "He was an around the basket guy and now he scores in several ways: he runs the floor well and finishes in transition. He can score from at least 15 feet and out."
Johnson accounted for 12 points and 7 boards a game for Hargrave as a 5th year prep. UNLV liked what it saw, moved on him and locked him down after an outstanding official trip.
"I think they did a good job recruiting him," Keatts said. "Lew Hill did a great job of recruiting him. The kid felt comfortable. One of the biggest things was that he was IMG last year and he liked the weather; you can't get any hotter than Vegas!"
