2003 Spotlight: Warren Scott

Abramson High in New Orleans, LA has had a big spark in 6'8 Warren Scott, who has played both center and power forward while leading his team to a 23-8 record. They currently sit on top of their conference.

Scott Having Big Season

Warren Scott says he likes power forward, but says "I'm the tallest player on the team, so I've been playing a lot of center lately." He says that he's faced plenty of tough competition this year, but says, "I get a lot of help from my team when they throw double and triple teams at me." He's definitely benefiting from that help, as he's currently averaging 19 points, over 10 rebounds, and four blocks a game.

Scott has been getting plenty of attention from colleges in the southeast, with Wake Forest, Florida, Arkansas, Houston, Memphis, Tulane, and LSU visiting Abramson practices this year. Warren says that he's liked all of these teams, and is looking for "a team that will fit my style. I like the up-tempo game."

Scott does have his eyes set on one school that plays his type of game, saying, "I like North Carolina's style." According to Warren, the Tar Heels have not made a visit yet, but he did say, "I've noticed they don't have too many big men." True enough, but to date UNC has shown no interest.

Scott played for the Atlanta Celtics in AAU ball last summer, but says that he won't pick a team for this summer until the end of the season, when he will also look at which camps to attend.

He's working hard in the classroom too, saying, "We just got our report cards today and I have about a 3.3 GPA." He plans on taking the ACT to qualify in the near future as well. Abramson High is his first priority for now, and he says, "We're working hard on this season right now."
