Tyler Roche Rolling in Victories

It's been a good year to say the least for Tyler Roche. A state title, the Gatorade state player of the year and most recently, a victory over state powerhouse BABC.

Tyler Roche and his teammates from the NH Playerz squad knocked off mighty BABC this past weekend.

The 6-6 ½, 200-pound Roche, a junior at Manchester Central High (N.H.) who won Gatorade state player of the year honors and also led his team to a state title, finished with 14 points and 7 rebounds in the victory.

Roche, who averaged 26 points and 8 boards per game this season, knows the reputation of guys from his state. Soft. Both physically and emotionally.

He's doing his best to silence the critics. Roche knocked down the go-ahead jumper in the state title game with 1:30 left and came up big against BABC late in the game, connecting on a 3-pointer just moments after putting the game away with a dunk.

Roche is skilled and is at his best when shooting the trifecta, but he's also a good passer and is working on becoming more aggressive in taking the ball to the basket.

``This was a big win for us," Roche said. "They are a big name in AAU. We've only had a couple practices, but this was huge beating a team like BABC."

Roche, who has a 3.6 GPA, began to make a name for himself last July in Orlando when the Playerz won the silver bracket at the Super Showcase. His teammate, Corey Hassan, earned a scholarship to Boston University – and Roche has become a commodity as well.

Georgetown, N.C. State, Boston College, St. Bonaventure and Holy Cross have all called over the past month.
