Done Deal: Galindo Leaves KU

Alex Galindo is leaving Kansas University. The 6-foot-7 wingman out of St. Benedict's in New Jersey announced his transfer Monday afternoon.

After spending his freshman season in Lawrence, Alex Galindo has decided to pursue the final three playing years of his career at another venue. The 6-foot-7 freshman forward who averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds and hit the game-winning shot against Texas A&M, officially parted ways with the Jayhawks Monday afternoon.

"We enjoyed Alex this past year," KU coach Bill Self said. "Losing his summer to a broken wrist and over a month of preseason workouts due to a pulled groin, certainly slowed his development. We are very appreciative of Alex's efforts throughout the season we wish him nothing but success in his future endeavors.

The Puerto Rican averaged 10.4 minutes a game as a freshman.

"I enjoyed my freshman year," Galindo said. "It had its ups and downs but overall was a learning experience. I wash Kansas and its fans nothing but success. I feel I need a change of scenery to get closer to home.

"I need a redshirt year to get stronger and develop my game. At this time in my life, my mind is still open where I will go, but hopefully it will be resolved in the next few weeks."
