Two Meet With Gordon

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were in Mouth of Wilson on Wednesday morning for a pow-wow with unsigned guard Jamont Gordon. Later in the day, a Big East team was front and center too.

Oak Hill guard Jamont Gordon, an unsigned 6-foot-3 power guard, hosted a visitor on the Oak Hill campus this morning. According to Oak Hill coach Steve Smith, Gordon met with Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury.

Mississippi State is among a handful of schools that Gordon is considering. According to Smith, MSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Pittsburgh and Florida are trying hard to get him onto campus.

However, the Bulldogs weren't the lone school (though they were the first) to meet with Gordon on Wednesday. Pittsburgh head coach Jamie Dixon was scheduled to be on campus for an afternoon meeting with Gordon.

The native of Tennessee is taking an official visit this weekend. New Volunteers coach Bruce Pearl lured Gordon onto campus this coming weekend for an official.

"I think Tennessee is still leading," Smith said. "Even with the coaching change. They said they need to keep players of that caliber in their program, especially in-state kids."

Gordon, who has made no secret of the fact he'd like to be close to his Nashville home, has not set up any other visits.
