2003 Spotlight: Jeremy Ingram

Kinston High in North Carolina is having quite the season with Jeremy Ingram, its 6-2 point guard, leading them to a fine year in Coastal Carolina Conference play.

Team, Star Having Nice Season

According to Jeremy Ingram, three of the team's losses were mainly due to tournament play over Christmas, but he is confident that the team has left those losses behind. He praised his teammates for the resurgence, saying, "Every player on the team is really working hard and playing well right now."

One player who is certainly playing well is Ingram himself. Even while facing plenty of double teams Jeremy feels he is running the team effectively from the point guard position, although he has played shooting guard in the past. His numbers point to his terrific play even against constant pressure, as he averages 17 points, 7 assists, and five rebounds a game.

Jeremy isn't taking anything for granted, however, saying, "Every team we face brings it as hard as they can when they face us." College coaches can also get excited because Jeremy also excels in the classroom, having already qualified with the SAT and currently carrying a 3.0 GPA.

Although Ingram is unsure where he will play AAU ball this summer, he does plan to return to the Nike All American Camp in Indiana, as well as "a few other showcases."

He says that he has no unofficial visit plans now, but he does like the ACC because the schools are close to home, and he said that he likes NC State, Maryland, Virginia, and Wake right now, although he still has plenty of time to decide.

As of yet he says that he hasn't seen any coaches in the stands watching, but if Kinston High and Jeremy continue on their current pace, both will be getting a lot more attention by year's end.
