Sheridan, Miller Lead Sanford

Sanford is undefeated in Delaware High School action. Its two lone losses came at the Slam Dunk To The Beach. Here's the latest on Stan Waterman's top two players, senior Earl Miller and junior Will Sheridan.

Miller Waiting For Score

Point guard Earl Miller is averaging 19 points and 9 assists a game for head coach Stan Waterman. He should be a shoe-in for first-team all-state honors. Miller is hearing from Central Connecticut and Towson. St. Francis (PA) is also involved. However, schools can't do much with Miller until he gets his test score back.

"We're hoping in the next couple of days we'll get some scores on him" Waterman, a former University of Delaware guard, said. "He had 18 and 10 against Tatnall (see game story) last night."

Sheridan Could Be POY In Delaware

After getting slighted last season and not making first-team all state, Sanford big "Small Wonder" Will Sheridan is having the kind of season everyone expected.

The junior power forward is averaging 21 points and 12 rebounds. He's also blocking five shots a game. "He strained his back a week ago and sat out a game last week," Waterman said. "He's been playing real well."

Virginia, Villanova, Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Charlotte and Tennessee are on the list. So are Michigan and Texas and plenty others. On Thursday, Notre Dame, Charlotte and Tennessee were in to see him get 29 points and 19 rebounds.

"I told (the coaches) we'll start to think about narrowing it down once we're finished," Waterman said.
