Guard Headed To SEC

The Alabama Crimson Tide landed a guard that will give them depth in the backcourt next season. Brandon Hollinger made it official for the Tide on Wednesday.

LeFlore (Ala.) High had a big time season as it went 35-1, losing the state championship game and a shot at a national championship on the final day of the season. Driving the team was 5-foot-11 point guard Brandon Hollinger.

On Wednesday, Hollinger made his collegiate decision. He's headed to the University of Alabama.

After receiving a slew of mid-major offers and getting interest from a few high-majors, Hollinger decided to roll with the Tide.

"When Alabama gets involved, people just back away," LeFlore coach Otis Hughley said. "Mississippi State called and heard Alabama was in and they backed away."

Hollinger averaged 19 points, 4 steals, 8 rebounds and 7 assists as a senior. Hughley praised his leader for his ability to make things happen.

"His acceleration level is unbelievable. We play full speed and we still didn't play fast enough for him. He doesn't shot hunt and still averaged 19 a game.

"I think they need depth at the point and they need to really feel comfortable about the backcourt core of guards they have and he really gives them a dimension that they don't have with the other guards."
