Ohio Standout Soph Headed To A-10

Nate Miles, one of the top sophomores in the state and Scout.com's No. 50 prospect in 2007, is off the board. After a weekend unofficial visit, the Toledo (Ohio) Libbey standout made his choice.

When you can shoot the basketball with the effectiveness that Nate Miles can and you're 6-foot-6 ½, people take notice. In Miles' case, one team took notice early and wasn't persistent enough to convince him to make a commitment.

Xavier University will be the home of Toledo (Ohio) Libbey standout in the fall of 2007. On Sunday, while on an unofficial campus visit with his mother, Miles committed to Coach Sean Miller. It was not the first time he took a visit to Xavier as the Musketeers have recruited Miles as a priority since Sean Miller took over the reigns as head coach.

"They believe in me," Miles said of the Xavier staff. "I think they can get me to the next level and get me to the NBA."

So far, the All-Ohio standout is off to a good start. As a sophomore, he averaged 19.5 points a game to go with 5 rebounds. Miles is talented from the perimeter and brings a scoring pop to any lineup.

"I'll do whatever I need to do," Miles said of his role once he arrives on campus.

The commitment is a big time one for Xavier as Scout.com has Miles listed as the No. 50 prospect in what appears to be a deep class of 2007. He's joined in the Top 50 by fellow Ohioans O.J. Mayo, Bill Walker, Keenan Ellis and Dallas Lauderdale.
