Top Three For Vermeulen

Ryan Vermeulen, 6-10 JR C Modesto (Calif.) High, has grown a couple inches in the last year and his game has improved as well. He caught the attention of some schools this spring and could raise his stock even further with a strong summer. He told us yesterday that three schools currently top his list.

"Washington, Clemson and Pacific are the three that have been showing interest that I really like," said Vermeulen. "Pacific came out to my school a couple weeks ago and I'll probably take an unofficial visit there sometime next week."

Vermeulen went on to say, "My goal is to sign in November. If things aren't complete, and I don't find the right school by then, I'll wait. But my goal is November."

We asked Vermeulen about the issue of early playing time.

"Playing time is always a concern for any player," said Vermeulen. "But I'm also interested in possibly playing for a top 25 type of school. So if I went someplace like that, and maybe didn't play right away, or redshirted, that would also be a possibility."

While Vermeulen is obviously most interested in the schools that have been recruiting him so far, he said there are a number of schools he'd be interested in hearing from.

"Some of the schools I'd be interested in would be Duke, North Carolina, Texas Tech, UCLA, Gonzaga and Wake Forest," said Vermeulen.
