Rivers Runs To Big East

Jeremiah Rivers just returned from a trip to Boston, where he watched his father's Boston Celtics lose to Indiana in Game 7. Now he's making headlines with his own commitment.

According to sources, Jeremiah Rivers committed to Georgetown Monday evening. The following story ran earlier today prior to the commitment. DT

Jeremiah Rivers could be just days away from a decision.

The Winter Park (Fla.) High 6-foot-3 combo guard, who recently returned from a trip to Italy with Leo Papile's BABC squad, has trimmed his list of finalists to Georgetown, Notre Dame and Kansas.

``Hopefully, I'm going to decide sometime this week," said Rivers, who will play with Papile's BABC team the rest of the spring and summer.

Rivers admitted that Georgetown holds a slight edge for now.

``I think I could go in and play right away," Rivers said. "I think it's a really good situation for me."

Rivers played for Nike Team Florida last summer and at the Boo Williams tournament in the spring, but because of his connections with Papile, the Boston Celtics director of player personnel who also works closely with Doc Rivers, he took the trip to Italy with BABC.

After a slow start, Rivers really came around in Papile's guard-oriented team.

``At first, I really didn't know what I was supposed to do," said Rivers, who saw time at each spot in Papile's three-guard offense. "But after the first couple games, I got more confident. The trip was great. Awesome. Unbelievable. Most of the teams we played would be as good as the top AAU teams in the country."
