Senior Big Man Still Open

Anthony Ivory is a guy who's been tough to keep up with. He started at Coastal Christian last season before leaving for Genesis One in Mississippi. Now the unsigned 6-8 senior is home in Maryland and waiting to head off to college.

It seems like an eternity ago that Anthony Ivory committed to Providence. Now, more than a year later, the 6-foot-8 ½, 300-pound senior is still in search of a college destination.

Ivory, who has bounced around at a few prep schools in the past couple of years with the most recent being Genesis One (Miss.), recently took a visit to Morgan State – but unless the right situation comes along, he's planning to spend one year in the junior college ranks.

Ivory only played a half-dozen or so games at Genesis One and averaged 13 points and 8 boards.

Other than Morgan State, Ivory said that Delaware State, Northeastern and Siena have expressed interest.

``I want to start working towards my degree," Ivory said. "I don't want to go to prep school for another year, because some of them hurt you more than they help you. I think I need to go to college."

``As of right now, I'm planning to go to junior college for a year," he added. "I'm already qualified, so I only have to stay there for a year." Ivory also said that he is completely healthy and recovered from a stress fracture in his right shin that limited his play over the past year.

``I'm all healed up," Ivory said. "I'm not hurt at all. I don't get a lot of gym time, but I'm spending a lot of time in the weight room and in the pool."

``I'm not where I want to be, but I'm getting there," he added.
