Henderson Ready To Announce

After navigating through the recruiting process over the past year, Philadelphia prepstar Gerald Henderson will announce his college choice at a Wednesday press conference. The 6-foot-5 slashing forward had been down to Duke and Villanova before one school received a phone call Sunday night.

Gerald Henderson Jr. an athletic 6'5 wing from Episcopal (Pa.) will commit to Duke at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon according to sources close to the situation.

Henderson, the No. 19 overall prospect in the class of 2006, also considered Villanova.

As a junior, Henderson teamed with fellow top 100 prospect Wayne Ellington to lead Episcopal High to a 24-3 record, including a perfect 10-0 mark in conference play. On the season the future Blue Devil averaged just over 19 points per contest.

Henderson's father, Gerald, Sr., played for 13 seasons in the NBA including a number of seasons alongside current Duke associate head coach Johnny Dawkins.

Henderson is Duke's first commitment from the class of 2006. Illinois prepstar Jon Scheyer, who is down to Duke and Illinois, will announce his intentions at a Tuesday afternoon press conference.
