Chattanooga Lands 2006 Center

Chattanooga landed a 7-footer from the junior class. Meet Jeremy Saffore.

UT-Chattanooga added a prospect on Wednesday. Jeremy Saffore, a 7-footer out of Nashville (Tenn.) Hillwood picked John Shulman's Mocs.

Chattanooga has to be excited about the size and potential of Saffore.

"He's got upside right now but he's got a ton of upside," Jeremy Shulman, coach of the Mid-State Ballerz said. "He's 7-feet and he's only 16 years old. He's got big hands and big feet. He's got a real nice baby hook, he's just not fully developed. He's got a nice base to him he just doesn't have upper body strength."

Saffore has been showing signs of turning the corner on the AAU circuit with the Ballerz. According to Shulman, a few weeks ago he had a game in which he scored 18 and pulled down 11 rebounds. "Every once in a while that light will come on."

Shulman says give him time. "He's probably three years away but in that conference, if he develops, he's got a chance to be a special player. He's shown flashes."
