Ellington To Decide This Week

He's getting close. Philly's Wayne Ellington, fresh off a visit from North Carolina, says he'll make his decision this week.

Wayne Ellington, Scout.com's No. 6 prospect in the Class of 2006, is down to a pair of schools: North Carolina and Villanova.

"It's going to be difficult," Ellington said Sunday evening. "I think I'm going to decide this week. It's tough between those two schools, I'm just not positive."

Ellington had been to Villanova officially and recently finished up his UNC visit.

"It went well. I had a lot of fun and got to know the coaches and some of the players better. I went down there for an unofficial so I was familiar with things."

Ellington was hosted by David Noel Friday evening, then switched gears and spent some time with Marvin Williams.

"I gave Marvin a couple of buckets," Ellington quipped.

Now, it's decision time. Ellington returns to North Carolina for next weekend's Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions. He says the draw to UNC deals with the past as well as the coaches.

"The history and the coaching staff and the atmosphere and the players [are good]. It's about being around great players all the time."

And then there's Villanova, which of course by attending nearby Episcopal, the 6-foot-4 guard is quite familiar with the Wildcats. "Villanova's [draw] is the coaching staff. I'm comfortable with them and I like all those guys and they're a good program."

This week Ellington plans to sit down and hash it out with his family. He said his buddy Gerald Henderson felt relieved to have his decision over with and you could sense that Ellington was looking forward to easing his burden.

For now, he's down to the business of deciding and it's not going to be easy. "I would say they're equal," Ellington said.

Not for long it would seem.
