Centenary Cleans House

New Centenary coach Rob Flaska wasted no time. He signed seven guys in his first class.

Rob Flaska's motto may as well be "Out with the old and in with the new" because the new Centenary coach is clearing house.

Only three players will return from last year's 3-24 squad and he'll welcome in seven new signees, including a handful of guys he expects to make an instant impact from the junior college ranks.

Don't be surprised if Flaska's starting backcourt before long consists of 6-3, 195-pound Redlands Community College shooting guard Eric Holmes and 6-1, 180-pound Cowley College point guard Xavier Burnette.

Holmes is a big-time shooter who flew under the radar while Burnette averaged 13 points and six assists this past season and hails from Kansas.

Flaska will also bring in 6-5 Alexander Starr, who helped lead Paris Junior College to the national title this past season; ultra-athletic 6-6 forward Chris Watson of Southwest Mississippi Junior College; 6-6 forward Larry Logan of Owens Community College; as well as a pair of high-school standouts – Temple (Texas) High's Ronnie Martin, a 6-5 wing and 6-1 point guard Bryan Baumann of Allen County High (Texas).
