Dews Begins Visitation Process

James Dews is hitting the visit trail. The Middletown (Ohio) Lakota East standout took his first visit last weekend and he's got another one already in the works.

James Dews is excited. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard off the All-Ohio AAU team is getting out and seeing the country. His visit parade began with Seton Hall last weekend and by the sounds of it, Dews enjoyed himself.

"It was great," Dews said. "The main part about it was the people, and the coaches. They're real down to earth. Louis Orr is a great coach. The facilities and things like that are good. It was really a great experience for my first official visit. I got to meet the president of the school and a lot of different academic people."

Hey, James Dews was fired up to talk about Seton Hall. He genuinely enjoyed his time there. Now he's got a chance to see another school this weekend.

Dews is taking a visit to Miami and his trip begins on Thursday. His list includes the Pirates, Hurricanes, Dayton, Xavier, Penn State and West Virginia; all have offered. Michigan, Notre Dame and Illinois are schools he counts on his list but have not offered.

"I want to make my decision by the end of July," Dews said. "Before I start my senior year, that's the plan; sometime after July."

Dews is attractive because he can flat out stroke it from deep to the tune of 46% as a high school junior. However, he cautions not to get caught up in the hype of labeling him just a 3-point shooter.

"People always talk about my 3-point shot," Dews said. "My mid-range shot is really my game. Of course I'm a 3-point shooter but mid-range is my game."
