Highly Regarded Ellington Commits!

Wayne Ellington wasted little time in making a commitment. After a series of official visits, Scout.com's No. 6 player in the Class of 2006, picked up the phone and made his decision.

Apparently hanging out with Marvin Williams and touring the North Carolina campus were enough to sway Wayne Ellington to the Tar Heels.

"He committed to Roy Williams last night," a source told Scout.com Monday morning. A press conference has been scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday. Coaches were contacted late Sunday night and the final calls to staffs were made Monday morning, the source confirmed.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard out of Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia, joins his good buddy Gerald Henderson in ACC Country. Henderson, Scout.com's No. 19 prospect, picked the Blue Devils last week.

Ellington's commitment is a continuance of UNC adding firepower in the Class of 2006. The Tar Heels began their class with a commitment from No. 85 William Graves. The 6-foot-6 Graves, ranked as one of the top juniors in North Carolina, hails from Dudley High in Greensboro.

UNC's second commitment came in the form of a point guard. Tywon Lawson, rated the nation's top point guard and No. 12 recruit overall, picked UNC over Wake Forest, UConn and Georgia Tech.

The Heels 3rd commitment came after Ellington gave serious consideration to Villanova, the school which he visited with Henderson on the final weekend in April.

There are some amazing recruiting classes being built around the country. Ohio State laid groundwork for a sweet year with Top 25 commitments from David Lighty (No. 21) and Daequan Cook (8). Meanwhile, Duke struck three times last week with Brian Zoubek (17), Gerald Henderson (19) and Jon Scheyer (24).

UNC now turns it attention to No. 2 Kevin Durant who visited Texas last weekend and is down to Texas, UNC and UConn. He's visited each of the programs.
