Faison Update Plus Video

Sumter (S.C.) Crestwood is home to an intriguing guard prospect in the Class of 2006. Byron Faison has already been on one official visit and the S.C. Ravens guard is beginning to compile a list of interested schools. We've got an update plus some exclusive video.

Byron Faison, a 6-foot-1 shooting guard out of South Carolina, recently made an official visit to Stanford.

"It was a real nice visit," Faison said. "I liked the campus and how diverse everything is. They're my favorite school right now." Faison is in the process of applying to the school and per Stanford guidelines, he cannot receive an offer until he's admitted.

Recently, Virginia Tech, Alabama and Connecticut have shown interested. "Those are the newest schools," Faison said. "I don't know how its going to go."

Florida State, Kentucky, Auburn, Clemson and South Carolina keep in touch with him, but none have offered. Wofford, Wright State and South Carolina State have offers on the table.

"I'm going to Auburn's elite camp," Faison said. "I think that's June 16th-17th. Obviously, I think if I do good at their camp that'll pique their interest a little more."

What about those in-state schools? Where are they in the pecking order? "If they offer before everyone else, they'll move it," Faison said. "It's up for grabs right now. I'm just waiting to see who is going to offer before I pick favorites. BUT, my favorite definitely right now is Stanford because I took the visit there."

Faison said that his participation in the Nike Peach Jam could be key to schools offering him. "That's going to be a big tournament for me because a lot of coaches will be there."
