Andrew Lavender has a new home. The former McDonald's all-american is headed back to his home state after transferring to Xavier on Thursday.
Sean Miller's Xavier Musketeers concluded their search for a point guard by adding an all-american to the mix. Drew Lavender
, a 5-foot-7 former McDonald's All-American (Scout.com No. 29, 2003), committed to Xavier after visiting the school.
"We had several other options but Xavier is the best fit," Lavender's father Tony said. "The main thing is the enthusiasm of the coaching staff. They're bright young guys who have a passion for basketball and a passion for coaching. They care about Drew."
The elder Lavender said his son looked at but did not visit Seton Hall, Michigan and West Virginia during the transfer process.
In his two seasons running the show at Oklahoma, the native of Ohio averaged 10.5 points and 3.5 assists.
