Gurley Set for Trip

Anthony Gurley is one of the top shooting guards in the nation, but hasn't gotten a lot of national respect - especially from the media. Maybe it's because he hasn't played in many tournaments of late, but there are still a few big-name suitors for his services.

Anthony Gurley is headed on his first official visit.

The 6-2 ½, 185-pound rising senior shooting guard at Newton North (Mass.) is set to take a trip to Wake Forest tomorrow.

``I'm very excited," Gurley said. "They've been recruiting me for a while and I can't wait to see the campus and get a chance to meet some of the players."

Gurley is a big-time scorer who hasn't gotten a ton of exposure of late. BABC played at Boo Williams in early April, but coach Leo Papile opted to take Gurley and the rest of the team to Italy for an international event instead of hitting the AAU circuit.

Gurley also mentioned that N.C. State and Miami have dropped off in their recruitment because each received commitments from shooting guards. The Wolfpack picked up a recent commitment from Larry Davis and the ‘Canes got a pledge from James Dews.

``They haven't been showing me much interest lately," Gurley said. "The two other schools that have been showing me interest are Villanova and Boston College."
